The beautiful elegant sport - gymnastic

A total of 324 gymnasts will compete in the three disciplines in the Olympic sport of Gymnastics: Artistic, Rhythmic and Trampoline. A total of 324 gymnasts will compete in the three disciplines at London 2012.

Artistic: The best known of the three Gymnastics disciplines. Artistic Gymnastics is always among the most popular competitions at the Games. There are in total 196 athletes competing in the 14 events, 98 men and 98 women. At London 2012, the Artistic Gymnastics competition will be held at the North Greenwich Arena on the River Thames.

Rhythmic: I am 100% sure that during the 2012 Olympics, grace and beauty will be on show throughout the four days of Rhythmic Gymnastics competition at Wembley Arena. There will be 2 medal events in gymnastic rhythmic. Originally the Rhythmic had a wide variety of disciplines, including classical ballet.

Trampoline: It had its Olympics debut at the Sydney games in 2000. The spring ‘bed’ is made from nylon or string material and is only about 6mm thick. There are 32 athletes competing and 2 medal events.

Denmark only has three Danish medal hopes in gymnastic. Peter Jensen, Helge Vammen, Daniel Præst are awaiting qualification to the Olympics. The qualification will take place in London the 10th – 13th January 2012.

In previous Games Denmark has only gained 5 medals, the first one was in 1906 and the last one was in 1916!
